Praised be Jesus Christ!
Today is the feast of Saint Dominic, and that is where I want to start. There is an image in our church that speaks to me especially today: burning Toulouse, and Saint Dominic receiving the Holy Rosary from the Virgin Mary. This is a very eloquent image for us today, when our cities and villages are burning. It is as if the Virgin Mary is also handing us the Rosary, inviting us to pray and entrusting us with a mission — to pray for Ukraine, for an end to the war, and for a just and lasting peace for our country.
Saint Dominic, pray for us and for Ukraine!
Yesterday we closed the need and sent 45 fire extinguishers to the village of Inhulets in the Kherson region. Mr. Igor Lapin asked us for fire extinguishers, because they cannot cope with enemy bombing and need urgent help (see photo).
This week we also delivered aid for Kherson, for Chernihiv region, as well as for paratroopers — and a large 35 kW generator for our defenders who defend the sky. Once again, we thank the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Kyiv / Ambasada RP w Kijowie for their help, in particular to Ambassador Piotr Łukasiewicz for the joint project. We can help because we ourselves receive help from our friends and partners, for which we are incredibly grateful.
Also this week we tried to cover the needs of the city of Kherson. Despite the fact that the city remained without electricity and water for several days, our kitchen and bakery continued to work — for this we thank our volunteers. The situation in Kherson is consistently bad.
In these days, we ask you to support our collection for organizing a children’s camp for children from the Donetsk region, which will start on August 17. To all who have already supported, we sincerely thank you, and for those who would like to support, here is the collection:
May Saint Dominic intercede for us and be our companion in various difficult circumstances of our lives. We thank all our friends for their prayers and support.
And finally, for many, our Shelter has become a home. This week, our Vira Ivanovna from Sumy region celebrated her 86th birthday. We are happy about this small holiday, that we can share it with our residents who have found a home with us.
With prayers
Fr. Mykhailo Romaniv OP
