Fastiv, 13-17.08.2022

Praised be Jesus Christ!

Today is the feast of St. Hyacinth (Jacek). For our Dominican family, he is a special saint and apostle, the one who came to Kyiv in the distant XIII century to proclaim the Word of God. He healed the sick and saved people from hunger, and above all he loved the Eucharist and the Virgin Mary – the Great Miracle Worker and Apostle.

We also often witness miracles in these difficult days of war! Looking at the photos from those who receive humanitarian aid, which we sent to Kherson, where people are in trouble, need medicine and food, we see hope and joy! The smiles of people from Kharkiv are such a miracle, we are very happy about this. The war continues, and we receive daily appeals from residents of Fastiv and forcibly displaced persons who are in need.

The fourth group of our volunteers has a few days of rest in Yaremchi. Next week the Sisters of the Missionaries of Mercy will come to our house in the Carpathians together with their wards from the “House of Hope”, which they take care of and conduct in Korotichy near Kharkiv – now the sisters have evacuated within the borders of Ukraine. We are happy, that we can help single mothers and children of our aching Ukraine to rest a little in the picturesque Carpathians.

People are asking for help because autumn is just around the corner – the other day we received a request for 234 houses that need roofing in Borodyanka area. We visit each family, assess the damage and try to help as much as possible.

In a few weeks, classes start in schools and we want to help families in formerly occupied areas and those forcibly resettled. We are planning to make 1000 gift school sets, so we are asking for your help and support. In our Center, a developmental space for the youngest has been operating since April – we provide children with psychological support services, conduct developmental classes. 60 children are under our care every day, including children who were forcibly relocated from Bakhmut and other cities.

Thank you to everyone who serves with us and supports us.

I pray for each of you,

Father Michal OP
