Fastiv, 8.02-15.02

Praised be Jesus Christ!

It seems that winter has remembered us, we already had hope that it would leave by spring, the last few years the winters were quite mild and not frosty, these last weeks and probably the next ones will be quite cold. I have been visiting Kherson near the front for three winters in a row and I don’t remember it being -10 in the city. On such cold and windy days, our social kitchens in Kherson and Fastiv work “at full capacity”, we give out over 1000 loaves of bread and 800 dinners daily.

We also have increased requests from our Defenders, in particular for everything that helps to keep warm. This week we closed requests for five brigades – gas cylinders, tools, oak pellets, warm clothes, these are all the things that our Defenders ask us for. Our volunteers also make trench candles. We probably hear a lot of talk about a truce in the media, but being in Kherson, I unfortunately witnessed frequent shelling of the city, people are dying, in recent days enemy weapons hit a children’s clinic…

We thank our courageous volunteers in Kherson, all our benefactors, as well as all those who supported our charity campaign “socks for the military” to our Charitable Freta Friends.

With prayers

Fr. Mykhailo Romaniv OP
