Fastiv, 23.06-30.06.2024

Praised be Jesus Christ!

Such hot days as we have outside the window today encourage us to look for coolness and we are always happy with a sip of fresh water. Yesterday we returned from Kherson, in the South the temperature reached +37. Despite this, together with volunteers they made about 3000 food kits for the needy of this sick city, which is under shelling every day. What I saw most often on the street were people carrying five-liter bottles of water, some in their hands, some on bicycles, some on a cart. The bombings are destroying the city’s infrastructure, and although the services are constantly repairing water pipes in some settlements, there is not enough water.

Therefore, the other day we started a new humanitarian initiative, which we ask you to support – this is drinking water for the villages of the Kherson Region. Father Maxim, the rector of the Parish of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ, together with his volunteers, delivers drinking water to those areas where people need it the most. It is necessary to purchase more water containers and finance logistics, we will be grateful for your help and support.

Perhaps you remember, during the last humanitarian mission, we brought building materials for the village of Inhulets. We were pleased that the residents have already used them to build a room where a generator will be located, which will provide water for the entire village.

Today is the end of the first round of evacuation of children from the front-line cities, which we started in June together with our Partners “Good Brother” Charitable Fund and Charitable camp “Great Familly” had a rich program aimed at recovery and psychological professional support for children living in the cities of hostilities. Experienced psychologists and the author’s program of Ms. Tatyana Davydovska showed high results. Unfortunately, the children cannot return to their native Pokrovsk, but the parents made a lot of efforts to find new “safe homes” in the Dnipro region. Today’s hugs and time together show how the children enjoyed Fastiv. I had the joy of showing the children the beautiful Fastiv church thanks to our friends and partners “Fundacja Charytatywni” and “Charytatywni Freta”, we were able to treat the children to lunch at our San Angelo cafe.

I want to thank the team of volunteers of our foundation, who worked hard these 13 days and served the children. Namely, Ludmila Yaresko, thanks for the delicious lunches and Ms. Yana Bozhar for your care and coordination. May the Good Lord reward you! Early today, the children of our St. Martin de Porres Catholic School returned to the city from the Carpathians. It was a blessed time of rest. Thank you for the incredible experience and support, Anna Maria Stadnicka! Thank you brothers Peter and Frans van der Heijdt for your humanitarian support of our missions.

I don’t stop praying for a peaceful night,

Fr. Mykhailo Romaniv OP
