Praised be Jesus Christ!
I am writing this weekly report from Kherson, where we are currently experiencing the Lenten retreat with our parishioners. The Holy Mass has just ended, and explosions could be heard throughout the Service. However, people, full of hope and trust in God, gather, pray, and constantly ask for peace for their hometown. This is felt here, in Kherson, in a special way.
This week, as we reported earlier, the territory of our social kitchen was damaged by mortar shelling. But thanks to the support of volunteers from various foundations, everything was promptly eliminated. The kitchen was operational the same day. We sincerely thank all our volunteers and everyone who helps and supports us for the opportunity to continue this mission and share food with others. In February, our kitchen served over 12,000 meals, which are very much needed by people living in the frontline city.
In Kherson, these days we have prepared food kits for residents of several districts who have contacted us with a request. These are over 2,500 kits – 18 tons of products that we, together with volunteers, packaged and distributed.
We constantly help the Armed Forces of Ukraine, especially here in Kherson. This week we handed over to the military the necessary heating items, as well as generators, chainsaws, televisions and other items that were requested.
Today is a special day. We thank all the women – volunteers, defenders who defend the borders of our country, or mothers who raise children alone, showing incredible courage and strength. We thank all the women who serve with us, especially in cities where hostilities are ongoing, where they, along with men, defend Ukraine, pray for it, and defend it. This is the incredible strength of our women.
We also thank everyone who has been with us during this time. We especially ask the Blessed Virgin Mary for all women who become intercessors for men during this difficult time.
