Fastiv, 16.03.2022
Dear friends!
A 36-hour curfew was introduced yesterday evening – this decision restricts our mobility, but it is essential for our military.
Throughout the day, we accepted parcels from Lviv – thank you to our Friends and the Ukrainian State Railways (“Ukrzaliznycia”)🙂! Today, one of the focuses of our charitable service was families with many children, which in the present conditions are exposed to great difficulties. They often lack food and hygiene measures.
At the very beginning of the war, thanks Sister Anastasia, who, heroically overcoming the obstacles at the exit from Kiev, an oven for baking bread for our cafe has been transported to Fastiv. It helped us to provide bread to those in need throughout this difficult time. Today, out of the tragic news that comes to us, we learned that the occupiers in Chernihiv killed at least 10 residents who were standing in a line for bread. This is the event that hurt us the most. After all, there should always be enough bread for everyone! The saying of St. Albert Chmielowski was: “To be good as bread”.
For me personally, one of the most eloquent miracles that the Savior performed is the miracle of the multiplication of the bread. And today’s genocide against those who wanted to buy ordinary daily bread is a cruel contradiction to the idea of what is human and good. After this, there is a desire to give even more bread against the helplessness, cruelty and evil that the invaders spread.
Thank you for your prayers, your help and your proximity!
