Fastiv, 29-30.03.2022

Praised be Jesus Christ!

In those days, our effort was focused on bringing aid to those villages near Makarov (50-60 km from Fastiv), which suffered from the cruel – though impermanent – occupation by the Russian army in recent weeks. The stories told by the inhabitants cause terror, regret and a desire to do justice to those who commit crimes against people whose only fault is that they are Ukrainians or citizens of Ukraine.

We thank our friends, especially Volodymyr (Włodzimierz) Horbyk, who knows the vicinity of Makarov well and helps to bring everything necessary for those in need. The survivors find an asylum in temples, monasteries, surviving houses. We have witnessed the creation of a painful history of our country which, in suffering amidst the tears and blood that is shed in abundance today, defends itself and defends its independence.

As always, we helped elderly people from Fastiv and our region. Yesterday we evacuated 50 people from our city, for what we are extremely grateful to the wife of the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Ukraine, Mrs. Monika Kapa-Cichocka, and Mr. Paweł Stępień.

We thank the Ukrainian Educational Foundation (Українська Освітня Фундація), our unchanging companions, benefactors of “Charytatywni Freta” and all volunteers from Warsaw. We would like to thank the inhabitants of Koszęcin (Śląskie Voivodeship) – the hometown of our Father Jan Piątkowski OP – from whom we also received help and support. A low bow and thanks to all our volunteers and Friends who work with us every day for victory!

And finally, I want to tell you about a little miracle. Today, the superior of the Ukrainian Dominicans, Fr. Jaroslaw Krawiec, OP, handed over the relics of Bl. Róża Elżbieta Czacka (who was born in Biała Cerkiew) to the Carmelite parish in Kiev, and at the same time he received from the parish priest, Father Marek Gromotka, OCD relics of the Holy Cross for our parish in Fastiv (which is dedicated to the Exaltation of the Holy Cross!). We are full of appreciation and gratitude to the Carmelite Fathers, because it is an extraordinary joy for our parish community – especially in this difficult time, which was proclaimed the Year of the Holy Cross by the Bishops’ Conference of Ukraine!

Thank you and we pray constantly!
