Praised be Jesus Christ!
We spent this week next to the mothers of our fallen heroes who underwent rehabilitation in our shelter. This is always a special time — a time of closeness, support, and attentive listening. And at the same time, it is an encounter with great pain. Because these wounds are still bleeding, and for some, they have already begun to heal, but they still hurt. Rehabilitation is a space for recovery: psychological, mental, spiritual, and even physical. This is exactly what the work of our specialists is aimed at — to return at least a little strength, warmth, and support to mothers.
In the end of this week, the memorial of the Blessed Virgin of Sorrows, who holds in her arms her Son, taken down from the Cross, was consecrated. This is the Pieta — an image of pain that every mother who has lost a child knows. An image that speaks without words. I would like to repeat the words of Archbishop Visvaldas Kulbokas, Apostolic Nuncio to Ukraine. Yesterday he addressed our mothers as follows: “Each of you is poor, because you have already given the most precious and valuable thing you have. And God always listens to the poor. He is always the first to come to their aid.” These words contain a truth that both hurts and supports. Because a mother’s “yes” at the moment of loss is a sacrifice that only God sees.
I think that for us this is also a sign that has two dimensions: to protect and to remember. Mothers teach us this every day. Their sons gave their lives to defend our land and protect each of us. Therefore, the memorial sign that will stand in front of our Holy Name of Jesus Center is a sign of hope. A sign that we will not forget. We remember. We are there.
We thank all our benefactors, donors and everyone who walks alongside us. In particular, the Good Brother Foundation, which this week donated aid for our social kitchen. Thanks to this, we were able to support our defenders in the cold season and share what we have.
We sincerely thank everyone who remembers us, supports us and continues this path of service with us.
May the Lord keep you.
